ALL ABOUT US - Skills & Talents Video

The young people show us their skills, enthusiasm and character in this funny video from the 'all about us' project. They chose a series of words they felt described themselves.

Reach and Believe

Through a series of Inspired Youth workshops, Dan Dan and Ryan explored their views on learning, skills and talents. They came up with top class creative concepts for two poster designs inspired by their views and experiences of learning. They worked on their ideas in sketch form before shooting some images for their design with professional photographer 'Scott Akoz Ensbury'. Their 'Reach and Believe' poster campaign reflects a positive message about having aspirations and conveys the ideas the lads had about their own learning and where they want to get to in their futures. They then worked with 'Schmon' a professional designer who helped them visualize their ideas into 2 excellent posters.

Directing the Poster Design

The group met at the Travellers Trust to finish work on the project. Whilst the Baby Crew set up and shot the final interviews about learning experiences the lads worked downstairs with Designer Simon. Using the story board ideas and the photos taken by Akoz, Ryan and Smithy direct the designer to create two posters to tell their stories about achievements, talents and self belief.

Shooting the Digital Stories

Working with photographer 'Akoz', Ryan and Smithy begin to turn their Digital Story ideas into reality by showing their talents to the camera!

Digital Storyboards

This week we worked on digital story idea. Ryan drew a storyboard about building a bike from scratch using the skills he has learnt to put the bike together. Dan Dan drew a storyboard about reaching his own targets. Drawing on his love for the beautiful game [football] he came up with the idea of a target in a goal that he was setting out to hit and that if he believed enough he could hit it.

First up we looked at a film called '5 Elements' where the famous Breakdance Crew 'Gravity Control' perform solo dances in front of a camera. The idea is that they all are dancing to the same music but with their own individual style!

We also talked about what we are good at; our skills and talents. Each person now has a sheet of paper with lots of positive comments written about them by the rest of the group.
